Fried Banana Shop is a three-piece band formed by music lovers who met in their neighborhood during the uncertain and isolating days of the COVID-19 pandemic. The band consists of Ryuju, founder of the creative collective w.a.u, guitarist Tomo, and saxophonist Yoji. They are currently active across Tokyo’s live music venues and club scene.

Rooted in Jazz, Indie Pop, and Rock, Fried Banana Shop creates a soft and warm sonic world by uniquely reinterpreting elements of Dream Pop and Alternative Jazz.

In 2026, the band released the single “Raccoon,” which was selected as the cover of Spotify’s official “Modern Jazz Japan” playlist. Their EP Goldenrod was also selected as the cover of Spotify’s official “Fresh Finds Japan” playlist. That same year, Fried Banana Shop was selected for TuneCore Japan’s “INDEPENDENT ARTIST 100 - 2026.”.

While Fried Banana Shop had previously released a number of works featuring collaborations with singers and rappers, Goldenrod represents a return to the band’s roots. It is their first EP composed entirely of instrumental tracks.

The EP explores the musical origins of Fried Banana Shop while expressing how those roots branch out into different genres.
